Raw Materials
Initially Rosewood and Ivory was used for inlay work but when ivory was banned in India, white and beige plastic has been used as substitutes. Plywood is used for base frame of the art piece. Different colors of wood like white cedar, rose wood, chill pine, rubber wood, red sandal, jackfruit wood, etc. are used to add multiple colors to the art piece. A mixture of wax and charcoal is used to fill fine details. The preferred colors used in the work pieces are orange, light blue, medium blue, dark blue, yellow, green (not natural), brown, dark brown, maroon etc.
