Redesign of User Interaction of Defense System
Guide: Prof. B. K. Chakravarthy
Mr. Mukesh Bopalkar
(Note: This is a collaborative project between IDC and Larsen & Toubro Ltd. and is governed by Non-Disclosure Agreement rules.)
The crux of the efficiency of defense systems lays in the efficiency of their HMI. The project involved the design of control panel as well as usage ergonomics considering the stressful war related situation.
The system being potential target for enemy attacks the protection of system is of utmost importance. The design thereby also involves a first of its kind mechanism for camouflaging the system.
It aims at developing a foolproof system that can serve the nation for years to come.
Design of Bench Vice using Bionics approach
Guide: Prof. V.P.Bapat
Bench-vice is an indispensable clamping device in industrial manufacturing processes as well as small
scale workshops. It is necessary to have an efficient mechanism to make the bench-vice easy to use. Nature has always
been the source inspiration for mankind since invention of wheel and even before. The project involved mimicking the
bats mechanism to hang upside down for long duration without any fatigue and putting it to use for day to day purpose.
The bionic approach has enabled the bench-vice to be easier and quicker to use than the traditional design. Also the
bionic approach allows it to be material efficient and hence low on cost.
Design of dashboard of mid-segment car for Indian market
Guide: Prof. G. G. Ray
Automobiles are everywhere and since its invention have been designed to serve varied purposes. They have moved on from being just a matter of convenience to a matter of an experience. This has led to design of new interactive systems for an automobile. To increase the usability, it must be among other things feasible for the user, in the simplest way, to determine how to act in a certain situation.
The project deals with the driver-car interface and is aimed at enhancing the driving experience by solving the cognitive level problems thereby making the interface as simple and as intuitive as possible.
