Project Title: Studies in the Design Ergonomics of Motorcycles for India Supervisor : Prof G. G. Ray India is a vast country with various forms of road transportation ranging from bicycles to large multi-axle busses. Two wheelers, especially motorcycles form the majority of these vehicles. Motorcycles in India are predominantly used for commuting and house hold works. The usage pattern is very different from developed countrieswhere motorcycles are used for sport or leisure. However the basic architecture and design of motorcycles in India are inspired from those in the developed countries. There has been very little research, especially in ergonomics, to design motorcycles specifically for Indian usage.
