The very first glimpse of the artwork attracted me towards is Patua paintings laid by 'Kalamandir' an organisation supporting art, craft, culture and rural development in Jamshedpur. I opted for a project of making a book on the Patua painting. But merely the idea was not sufficient to start my journey; I was questioned about what was new and relevant in my contribution.

I then started searching for a subject for my project. A recent picture that had outraged me was an incident in Guwahati of a molestation of teenage girl by 20 people on the GS Road for an hour on 9th of the July 2012. I therefore decided to do a collaborative project with the Patuas, with violence against women as the subject.

I met the artist Dukhushyam Chitrakar at Naya village in Medinapore district of West Bengal and discussed the subject for my project. He prepared a scroll named “Meiy O Manush” i.e. (The girls are also human beings) and this was my first attempt at collaborating with a folk -artist.
